Phil Sims - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Assistant Coach
Phil Sims enters his first year as assistant coach where he previously thrived in the program under former coach Tom Raven at the helm. Sims came in as a highly sought after recruit from the College of Lake County where he was a two time all conference award winner. He was the first ever in the schools history to win the award as a pitcher in one season and a position player the next.
Sims played first base his Junior year at Trinity being an offensive force in the middle of the lineup. His Senior year, he played at his more natural position shortstop and moved to the lead-off spot in the lineup where he sparked the clubs offense.
In his tenure at TIU, Sims batted .377 with 21 home runs.
