DEERFIELD, Ill. - The Trinity International Volleyball program announced it's newest signing on Monday, as Deborah Kovalczuk (Curitiba, Brazil) is set to join the Trojans in the fall of 2017.
Kovalczuk graduates from Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minn., where she helped lead the Warriors to an MSHSL sectional final appearance and 24-7 overall record. Prior to joining Wayzata as an exchange student, The 6' 2" outside hitter played club volleyball for Circulo Militar de Paraná, regularly one of the top programs in the state of Paraná.Â
"I'm Incredibly excited to add Deborah to our team. She has a great feel for the game, a high volleyball IQ, and well rounded with ball control," said TIU head coach
Luke Ward. "She'll be a solid player for us right off the bat."
"I chose TIU because I thought it was a perfect fit for me," said Kovalczuk. "My dream has always been to come to the U.S. and go to college and play volleyball. Coach Ward gave me the amazing opportunity to play at Trinity, and I couldn't let that chance escape."
Kovalczuk becomes the fifth signing in the class of 2017 for TIU Volleyball, joining junior college transferrsÂ
Samantha Brenneman and Katelyn Sommers, and incoming freshmen
Masey Schmedes and Madeline and Jacqueline Decker.
