Ashlyn Spay joins TIU Volleyball for 2016 season

DEERFIELD, Ill. - Trinity International volleyball head coach Luke Ward announced the first signing of the 2016 recruiting class, in outside hitter Ashlyn Spay. Spay will join the Trojans in the fall of 2016, after finishing her high school career at Pleasant Valley HS in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Spay helped lead Pleasant Valley to a second-place finish in the Mississippi Athletic Conference as team captain in 2015. An All-Academic Team award winner last fall, Spay plans to study Sport and Wellness Management at Trinity International.

"Ashlyn is somebody that can come in and help right away," said Ward on the newest Trojan. "She played in a very competitive conference in high school, with a lot of her opponents signing with [NCAA] Division I programs. She has a great ability to play all the way around, and adjust based off of what the other team is doing. Ashlyn is a great athlete, but an even better person. She comes from a great family, and has a passion for a family-like environment."

"I really liked Coach Ward and how everyone was so friendly," said Spay on her decision to come to Trinity. "I loved that Christ was the focus, and I could just really picture myself going there."
