Coach Andy Euler begins his second season as head coach at TIU. Coach Euler enters his 21st season as a head coach with great expectation as the Trojans return four players with starting experience from last years squad. Added to the returnees are several new players that will add depth and experience to the team. "Our main goal will always be first and foremost to honor Jesus Christ in all that we do and say, secondly, we want our players excelling in the classroom obtaining a degree that will be useful as they seek to be salt and light in our world, and thirdly, we want to be excellent at the game of basketball, we want to continue our growth as a program to be a nationally recognized college

Coach Euler joined the TIU Family after serving for two years as Head Men's Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at a fellow NAIA institution that competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, CovenantCollege, in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Previous to his time at Covenant, Euler enjoyed a long tenure at Wheaton academy in West Chicago, Illinois, where he earned an impressive coaching record of 258-171. With Euler at the helm, the Wheaton Academy Warriors won four Private School League championships, were the regional runners-up five times, and won the regional championship in the 1997-1998 season. Eighteen of his former Warriors continued their playing careers, going on to play at NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA institutions. Coach Euler achieved PSL coach of the year recognition twice while coaching at Wheaton, as well as the IHSAA District 9 coach of the year award in 2000.
Preceding his time at WheatonAcademy, Euler spent time coaching and teaching at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and PillsburyCollege in Owatonna, Minn. In the 1991-92 season, Euler directed the AnchorageChristianHigh School basketball team to the AAA state championship title where Euler received coach of the year honors. Euler earned his bachelor of education degree from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where he played intercollegiate basketball and was recognized as his team's MVP and an all west coast selection. Euler went on to receive his master's degree from Grand Rapids Seminary. Euler and his wife, Melissa, have been married more than thirty years and have three children, a married son, Jordan, Benjamin, a sophomore at GraceCollege, and Anna, a junior in High School. Shawn Chism - Assistant Coach

New to the Trojan basketball program is Shawn Chism, former head coach of the IBL Lake County Lakers, and College of Lake County. Coach Chism enters his first year with the Trojans with impressive credentials as Shawn received NJCAA Region/District and Conference coach of the year honors in 2006. Coach Euler says, "I am excited about Coach Chism joining our staff for the 09-10 season, he has shown that he is an excellent coach, an excellent mentor of young men and he will be a tremendous asset to our program. A college basketball program needs staff members of Shawn's expertise and knowledge in order to be successful, I know the team and I will be grateful for Shawn's input in to our program for the honor of Jesus Christ."
Coach Chism received his Bachelor's degree from ChicagoStateUniversity and holds a Master's degree from CumberlandUniversity in Lebanon, TN
Jason Irwin - Assistant Coach

Jason Irwin joins the Trojan staff this season to assist at the Varsity level. Jason was a four year player at Emmaus Bible College. He is currently enrolled in the MDIV program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Blake Oakley - Assistant Coach

Blake Oakley enters his second season as an assistant coach and this year will direct the JV program at TIU. Blake has shown that he has great knowledge of the game of basketball and an ability to relate well to players. "I am thankful for Coach Oakley's work in our program, his ability to relate to players and his knowledge of the game was extremely valuable here at TIU. I am thankful I can trust the JV program to a man of Blake's stature. The JV program will thrive under his leadership as he helps prepare players for the varsity level" comments Coach Euler. Coach Oakley is in his second year of the MDIV program at TrinityEvangelicalDivinitySchool. He is a graduate of WakeForestUniversity, where he was an integral part of the women's basketball program.
