Whiting, IN - The Trojans took an eight point lead at halftime Wednesday evening, and the victory by 11 at 70-59 over Calumet St. Joseph. Sophomore Nathan Ball earned a double double leading the Trojan scoring with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

The Trojans entered the game Wedneday night off 6 losses in a row, ready to break the streak, along with the Waves of Calumet College of St. Joseph also entering on a six game losing streak.

The Trojans started their lead at 5-0 by 16:43 with points from Nathan Ball, Daniel Metzelfeld and Josh Markum. After a three point basket from Freshmen Sam Salem at 15:10 the Trojans expanded their lead by 8, at 12-4. The Trojans were able to freeze the Waves at 10 points and continued to put in back to back three point baskets from Kurt Anderson and Salem to take their largest lead of the half by 15 points. The Waves attempted to get back into the game before the break, but TIU was able to hold an 8 point lead at halftime.
Just two and a half minutes into the second half the Trojans pushed their lead to 14 with 4 point from Ball, and 2 from Demontay Robinson and Dillon Wadsack. Waves Senior Guard Javon Robinson strongly enhanced the CCSJ offense with 22 points on the night, and helped get them within 3 points of TIU at 7:30 remaining. Metzelfeld responded for TIU by hitting a 3 pointer to put the Trojans back up by 6 and the Trojans steadily increased their lead to close out the game by 11, advancing over the Waves 70-59.
Four Trojans earned double digits against the Waves including Ball with 17 points, and 14 points a peice for Robinson, Wetzelfeld and Wadsack. TIU out rebounded the Waves 45-37, Ball contributing 16 of the rebounds and Robinson with 9.
Trinity International returns to the court Saturday evening in Deerfield against Judson University at 7:30pm. In their last meeting the Trojans beat the Judson Eagles 64-62.
