Deerfield, IL - Senior Daniel Metzelfeld was the Trojans leading scorer for the fourth game in a row, but the University of St. Francis Saints (14-8, 10-6) would remain strong and take the game by ten at 67-77 Saturday evening.

Metzelfeld (Indianapolis, IN) finished the game against the Saints with 26 points, this was not only his fourth game in a row as the leading scorer, but also earning points in the twenties. Metzelfeld has a total of 275 points on the season, averaging 12.5 per game. Senior Dillon Wadsack (Ramstein, Germany) is the Trojans overall leading scorer and finished against the Saints with 13, totaling 308 points this season and 14.0 per game. Sophomore Justin Peeples (Chicago, IL) also got in double digits with 10 points.

The Trojans tied the Saints six times in the first half, yet the Saints continually found the lead and gained a 10 point advantage over TIU at the break 34-44. The Saints continued to grow their steady lead, separating from the Trojans by as many as 17 as 12:52 remaining. Going 9-12 at the free throw line in the second half encouraged the Trojan comeback, yet the Saints overall 37.1% from the field, 30.4% at the three and 72% from the line was more than the Trojans could fight with TIU's 45.9% from the field, 7.1% from the three and 75% at the line.
The Trojans return to the court on Wednesday, January 23rd at Calumet College of St. Joseph (6-5, 3-13) at 7:30pm.
