Deerfield, IL - Trinity International University is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Tony Ladd to serve as Athletics/Advancement Director effective July 1, 2012.

"Dr. Ladd's vast experience, knowledge, wisdom and commitment to excellence will be an asset to our student athletes and coaches as well as the TIU community as a whole," Dr. William Washington, vice president for student affairs, said. "I'm also excited about his passion for incorporating a commitment to academics and a biblical worldview into all facets of our athletic program. Dr. Ladd is the right fit for such a time as this, and I look forward to working with him."

Dr. Ladd comes to Trinity from Wheaton College where he directed a 22-sport program. During his leadership at Wheaton, athletic teams won 127 conference championships, five national titles, and 15 individual national championships in NCAA Division III competition.

Active in numerous sport organizations, Dr. Ladd brings to TIU a passion for performance of student athletes not only on the field but also in the classroom and in the community. Dr. Ladd has explained that "the crucible of athletic competition provides an educational arena where young men and women can test their abilities and learn under the care and supervision of master coaches. Time spent by student athletes in preparation for intercollegiate competition provides a positive pathway to prepare for a lifetime of service to church and society."

On coming to Trinity, Dr. Ladd anticipates what can be accomplished through sports at the institution. "I am really excited to lead a program that places athletics at the heart of the educational experience and expects its coaches to mentor student athletes to become salt and light to a world community," he said.

Dr. Ladd has been a leader in the world-wide sport ministry movement. He hopes to expand those opportunities for Trinity student athletes because of its outstanding divinity school and the international connections of the University.

TIU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), as well as the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA).
