The Lady Trojans played a well fought battle tonight against Indiana University-South Bend tonight but their furious second half rally came up just short.
The Lady Trojans lost a heart-breaker to the Indiana University-South Bend Titans Tonight 59-58. Trinity took the lead just once in the first half after a jumper by Brittany Simon (JR Clinton Township, MI) put them up 12-11 with 11:04 on the clock.
The Titans responded with a basket from beyond the arc on their next possession and wouldn't relinquish the lead the rest of the opening half. TIU trailed by nine at one point but went into the half down by seven at 30-23.
In the second half, the lead for the Titans would grow to 16 at 53-37 but that's when The Lady Trojans went on their 21-6 run with 10 minutes remaining to close out the half. Being down by 59-58, Trinity held on to the ball for the last shot.
Trinity got off a decent look for their final shot but it wasn't meant to be and the time ran out of the game and the hope of a Trojans victory.
Simon had 16 points and 5 assists and Cassie Glendenning (JR Stillman Valley, IL) also had 16 points.
The Lady Trojans next game will be on Saturday Jan. 21 at Olivet Nazarene University at 1:00 P.M.
