Deerfield, IL – The Trinity International Men's Basketball team fought to keep up in the first half of a close game against Holy Cross yesterday, improving in the second half, but falling just short of a win, 78-81.
Dillon Wadsack charged into the game for the Trojans, converting a layup for the first two points of the game. The Trojans unwillingly traded the lead in the 17th minute of the first half. They struggled to stay neck-in-neck with the Holy Cross Men's Basketball team, and would take over the lead once more in the half. The Trojans fell to an 11-point gap at the end of the first half to bring the score to 35-46.
A valiant effort in the second half rewarded the team with a total of 43 points on the half, flustering the Holy Cross defense. The Trojans converted 54.2% of attempted field goals on the game, an impressive feat. The team was led by the two highest scorers, Dillon Wadsack and TJ Abrams, with 16 and 15 points respectively. In addition, Allen Lott and Tim Howard each grabbed a game high 6 rebounds for the Trojans, demonstrating excellent defense. Allen Lott attempted to match his previous game with number of assists, reaching four this week.
Unfortunately, the Trojans had 22 turnovers on the game, contributing to the loss. In spite of that, the effort was brilliant, and the Trojans will seek to surpass it in the next game at Roosevelt University tomorrow, January 16.
