Deerfield, IL – A poor shooting performance by the Trojan Men's basketball team resulted in their first loss of the New Year to the Purdue University Calumet Peregrines, 80-70.

The unrelenting lack of dominance in the first half continued to haunt the Trojans as they fell to a 20 point deficit after a strong opening.  TIU was 14-34 (41%) within the arc, and 2-15 (13.3%) from 3-piont range in the first half, but were however a perfect 100% from the foul line. The Trojans came within 2 points of tying the game in the 11th minute but the Peregrines took off again and led by double digits till the half.

Purdue University Calumet Peregrines continued their superior defense in the second half despite the Trojan's gallant effort to cut the lead to just 10 points. Dillion Wadsack led the way with 25 points, while Allen Lott had 6 assists. Demontay Robinson contributed 3 steals to the Trojan effort with Nate Ball securing 2 blocks in the process.

The Trojans will travel to face #11 Cardinal Stritch University on Wednesday, January 11th. Tip-off is @ 7:30pm
