DEERFIELD, IL- The Trinity International University women's soccer team obtained victory number two of the season at home defeating Marryville University, 2-0.
The heat of summer may or may not be over, but there was no stopping the red hot Trojans (2-0) in today's match against the Saints (0-2).
TIU's Keeper Rebekah "STEVE-O" Niedermayer earned her second shut out of the season scooping up 5 saves in the match. Although all MU's shots were on goal, none would get by STEVE-O and TIU's stonewall defense.
The Trojans would strike the Saints twice in the first half with world class goals and crosses. Soccer is the beautiful game, and the Lady Trojans would not disappoint their allegiance of dedicated fans.
TIU's first goal happened in the 14th minute off a rocket rip near the eighteen yard box by Michelle Renaud (SR Pella, IA), expertly distributed by Diana Anderson (JR Bourbonnais, IL) and Milly Garvin (SO Hudson, IL).
Trinity's second goal would occur off another amazing cross in the 38th minute. Renaud would send a precision ball to target, Jessie Naussbaum (SO Naperville, IL) who would place the ball in the back of the net with authority.
The Trojans found themselves at the end of the half with a 2-0 lead and would never look back.
The beautiful game was played, well beautifully, by the Trojans for the remainder of the match. The Saints were unable to score any points ending the contest in Trojan victory, 2-0.
The Lady Trojans play next, again at home September 4th at 1:00 PM against Taylor University.
