DEERFIELD, IL - Trinity International University Cross Country will inaugurate a new team and a new season Friday, September 3rd, with the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational at 5:00 p.m.

The team is ready to stretch out their legs and put their training to the test with this first meet. The race will be shorter than at most meets with the women running a 4K (2.48 miles) and the men running a 6K (3.72 miles). Head Coach Chad Ware is "excited to see benefits of the training that has been put in so far."

Although the team is a new program and is starting from scratch, Coach Ware is looking to see strong performances from his runners this season. Coach Ware states, "With this race we will establish a baseline from which we can build upon throughout the season."

The team came together for the first time during the second week of August. Over the course of the month they have formed strong relationships with each other. Coach Ware shared, "they get along well and want each other to succeed." The preseason time together helped establish this team dynamic. Sophomore Erin Mulligan said, "We are like a family….each person plays a unique and significant role that helps to carry the team." Mulligan was encouraged to see a team support each other well on the college level.

If you would like to cheer on the Trojans in their first meet of the season, it will take place at Eldridge Park in Elmhurst, IL. The women's race begins at 5:00 p.m. and the men will race at 5:45 p.m. For directions follow this link: Directions to Eldridge Park.
