The TIU women's volleyball team fought hard all weekend as they opened the year with a tournament at St. Ambrose University in Iowa.  

The lady Trojans opened up against Hastings College at 4pm on Friday, and played well at times, but couldn't pull out the victory and lost 25-21, 24-24, 25-23. They then played Mount Vernon Nazarene College at 8pm and again lost 26-24, 25-18, 25-14.

The team is still learning to play together and working on plays which the team in confident will come with experience. On Saturday they would pick up their first win in the young season coming in game three against Iowa Wesleyan College, but would lose the match 25-20, 25-18, 15-25 and 25-20. Some of the players felt that the game three win against Iowa Wesleyan is how they are really capable of playing and stressed that they need to play like that more consistently.

The team came into the last game of the tournament determine to get their first victory and that's exactly what they did at the cost of Benedictine University. They took all three games winning 25-11, 25-11 and 25-14. 

 
For the weekend, Arseneau led the team in kills with a total of 41, contributed 5 aces and 34 digs.  Because of her efforts, she was selected to the All-Tournament Team.  Senior Cheri Stoddard, another stand-out player on the weekend, had 111 assists, and 5 aces.  Junior Brynne Eaton helped the team's cause by contributing a total of 14 blocks, at a rate of 1.4 per set.

Their next game will be at Indiana University Northwest on Tuesday at 7 P.M.
