DEERFIELD, IL -- Trinity International has announced its 11-game football schedule for the 2010 season, a slate that features a 4-games against NAIA top 25 opponents.

The Trojans open the season at home with an August 28 hosting of Iowa Wesleyan University, continuing the longest-running series in Trinity International's program history.  The Tigers, an NAIA member from the West side of the Mid States Conference, won  the Trojans' season-opener a year ago by a 29-7 margin. 

"The schedule you are handed is one of the toughest challenges in the Mid States Conference with all the high quality teams you know you will face.   I'm confident that the quality of the opponents we regularly play will elevate the level of play within our program," head coach Kirk Wherritt said.   (Click here to view the 2010 Trinity International football schedule)

Trinity International returns home the next week against St. Ambrose University, Before heading out on the road for a two game stretch, taking on 2009 NAIA National Semi Final participant, #4 St. Xavier University.  The Cougars return a team that handled the Trojans 51-3 a year ago.  The following week, TIU travels to Iowa to take on Waldorf College.

Trinity International will then host William Penn University for the Homecoming game on Sept. 25 before heading back out on the road to face Marian College on Oct. 2 and Olivet Nazarene university on Oct. 9.

After playing 4 of 5 games on the road, the Trojans will enjoy a 3 game home stretch that features two NAIA top 25 opponents.  University of St. Francis (IL) visits Deerfield on October 16.  The Saints enter the 2010 season having climbed to #17 in the rankings.  On Oct. 23, the #22 Trojans of Taylor University comes to town fresh off a resurgent 2009 season that saw them finish 7-3 just missing out on qualifying for the NAIA National tournament. 

The Trojans will finish the regular season with a road contest against another ranked opponent, #16 Walsh University.  The game will be played in Canton, OH.
