BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - In hopes to receive an automatic bid to advance to NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) National Tournament, Trinity International University lost two games NCCAA Regional Baseball Tournament, 2-5 against Judson, and 4-8 against Olivet. The Trojans are 30-23 for the season. 


Judson (38-21) started things off in the top of the third inning with a single to center field by Angel Cisneros. John Amann for the Eagles hit a double to bring Cisneros around to third with just one out. Brian Brauer hit an RBI single to bring Cisneros in, also advancing Amann to third base.  Still with one, Zach Williams hit an RBI single to the right side, scoring Amann. The Trojans turned a double play to end the Eagle's inning leaving one on base. 

The Eagle's had another big inning in the top of the fifth. Cisneros started things off again with a lead off single to the right side. Levi Pippenger doubled to score Cisneros, but the Trojans were able to catch him stealing to give Trinity one out. Williams doubled for the Eagles to score Amann who reached being hit by a pitch.  Williams ended up scoring on an error before the Trojans could get the third out, giving the Eagles three more for the inning. 

The Trojan's were kept off balance at the plate for most of the game, but were able to score in the bottom of the fifth. Anthony Mendoza (Yorkville, IL) started off the inning reaching on an error by the Eagle's Left Fielder, and was able to advance to second. Keeping the Eagle's on their toes, Mendoza ended up on third by taking advantage of a wild pitch. Steven Collado (New York, NY) doubled through the left side to score Mendoza. 

The Trojan's were able to keep the Eagle's scoreless for the remainder of the game. In the bottom of the sixth, Phil Sims (Waukegan, IL) led off the inning with a homerun, and despite the three big hits in the inning, the Trojans were left with just one run for the inning.  

The Trojan's lost the game to the Judson Eagle's 2-5. Trinity went on to play the Olivet Tigers for their second game of the day. 

As the visiting team, Olivet Nazarene University (31-17-1) started the game off with a run in the first inning. Caleb King started off the inning with a grounder up the middle and was moved around the bases to score later in the inning.  In the top of the third, the Tigers scored again. Pete Smidt doubled to right field, and the Tigers moved him around to score on a double to the left side by Chris Hammet. The Tigers were able to get another run in the sixth inning. 

The Trojans Answered back in the bottom of the sixth, getting every run back, plus one. Sims led off the inning big with a homerun to left center field. The Trojans were not done, as they were able to get two more runners on to set things up for Collado. With a clutch homerun deep to right center, Collado gave the Trojans the lead going into the seventh. 

The Tigers tied things up in the top of the second to push the game into extra innings. The Trojans were not able to get another run through the 8th. The Tigers came up big in the top of the 8th, scoring four on five hits. 

The game ended with the Tigers up 8 to 4, ending the Regional Tournament for the Trojans. The Trojans ended their season with a successful 30-23 record. The 30 win season has blazed a trail for the seasons to come.
