Trinity scored multiple runs in the first, third, and fifth innings to take the 7-0 lead. Greg Hess went the distance on the mound to contribute to the Trojans' win.
In the first inning, Anthony Mendoza singled up the middle to bring home two RBI's. The third inning began with Smith hitting a single to the left center. Then Pete Miller stepped to the plate, as he would end up allowing Smith to score as well as himself. Steven Collado, Mendoza, and Miller scored runs in the fifth inning to push the Trojans' lead to seven.
The Saints had multiple runners on base in six separate innings, but they were wiped out by the six double plays. USF (34-14, 24-6) did not score their only run until the ninth inning.
This win was the Trojans' 30th win of the season and their last game in regular season play. Their record is now (30-21, 14-16).
