DEERFIELD, IL - The Trinity International University Men's Soccer Team welcomes, Sean Avila, to the 2010-2011 team. Avila is from the local area and currently attends Zion-Benton High School.
Avila has been playing competitive soccer since he was just three years old. At eight years old, Avila began playing goalie. Avila has both trained and played hard for many years. He began playing in an adult league with his father when he was only fifteen years old. In high school, Avila began playing with his varsity team halfway through his freshman year. He has since been on the varsity team and began starting for the team during his junior year. Avila's record as a starter on varsity was 22-11-7. Avila won the coach's award during his junior year as well. During his senior year, Avila received all-conference honorable mention. He was also accepted for the boys state program last summer, which he attended. Avila works hard off of the pitch as well. He currently maintains a B average in his schoolwork.
Head Men's Soccer Coach, Patrick Gilliam, says, "I am really happy about Sean's decision to attend TIU this coming fall. He is an extremely hard-working young man who is always striving to take his game to the next level. His teachability and commitment to excellence will take him a long way over the next four years. I am excited to see what he is able to accomplish during his collegiate career."
