DEERFIELD, IL- The Trinity International University men's baseball team took on North Central University in the Trojans NCCAA Classic scheduled to play two doubleheaders in two days.
Day 1: the Trojans (28-16) won both games against the Rams (6-22); 20-10 and 6-4 respectively
Day 2: Games canceled due to rain. The games will not be made up.
In Day one/game one, Owen LeFlar (SR Edmonton, AB, Canada) was credited with the win, pitching four compete innings and getting help from four other TIU pitchers.
The Trojans had big innings in the bottom of the second scoring 7 runs and in the bottom of the fifth scoring 8 runs. Pete Miller (SR Chicago, IL) and Kevin Tenney (JR San Diego, CA) lead the Trojans on offense. Miller went 3-4 for the day hitting one home run and batting in 4 RBIs. Tenney went 5-5 with two home runs and 6 RBIs. Tenney has been a home run machine in the past couple games.
The Rams would put some runs on the board but the game would end in Trojan victory, 20-10.
In Game two, Nate Alvarado (SR Kaneohe, HI) would be credited with the win, pitching just over six innings and strking out three Rams opponents. Greg Hess (SO Waterman,IL) would earn the save.
Tenney again would continue his streak with another home run in the contests and leading the Trojans batting 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Rafael Mendez (FR Dominican Republic) also would hit one out of the park earning 2 RBIs for the game and ending the game once again in Trojan victory, 6-4.
Day two of the Trojan NCCAA Classic both games of doubleheader were canceled due to rainy wet conditions.
The Trojans play next against Trinity Christian College Wednesday, April 28th at 3:30pm on the road.
