DEERFIELD, IL-  The Trinity International University men's baseball team was able to defeat Trinity Christian College in both games of the home doubleheader, 13-8 and 16-5 in five innings.

The Trojans (26-16, 12-11) were able to roll over the Trolls (15-19, 8-12) in both games on a beautiful day for baseball.  Conditions were ideal for the long-ball and both teams didn't disappoint.

In Game 1, the Trolls were on the board first scoring three runs in the first and second inning.  Then Kevin Tenney (JR San Diego, CA) stepped up to bat.  Tenney lead the Trojans to victory batting 3-4 with 4 RBI's including two home runs.  The first home run floated over the right field fence in the bottom of the second inning putting TIU on the score board.  His second shot sailed over the left field fence in the bottom of the third inning.

Drew Wicklund (SR Zion, IL) was the winning pitcher striking out three batters.  Other key contributors to the Trojan win included Bill Smith (JR Arlington Heights, IL) who batted 2-4 and contributed 2 RBI's.  Paul Wilson (Richmond Hill, ON, Canada) and Tony Mendoza (JR Yorkville, IL) also added 2 RBI's a piece ending the game 13-8 Trojan win.

In Game 2, TIU brought out the bats with a purpose ultimately scoring 16 runs and ending the game in five innings.  Tenney again lead the Trojans hitting a 3-run homer in the bottom of the third.  Tenney went 3-4 in this game batting in 4 RBI's.

Other notable Trojan efforts include Phil Sims (SR Waukegan, IL) who had a two run shot over the center field fence in the bottom of the fourth.  Sims was 2-4 in the game and knocked in 4 RBI's.  Smith also had another stellar game hitting 3-4 with 2 RBI's.  Pete Miller (SR Chicago, IL) also had a big game going 3-4 with a clutch double in the bottom of the fourth inning putting the Trojans ahead 10 runs.

Nate Alvarado Jr. (Kaneohe, HI) of TIU was credited with the win in five innings, 16-5.

The Trojans next play in the Trojan NCCAA Classic at home against North Central University, Friday April 23rd at 1:00 PM.
