BOURBONNAIS, IL- The Trinity International University men's baseball team split their doubleheader against Olivet Nazarene University on the road losing the first game, 2-3 and winning the second game, 8-5.

The Trojans (24-16, 10-11) were able to win one game against the Tigers (21-12-1, 12-6) in the three game series last week.

In the first game, ONU would strike first off an RBI single by Pete Smidt (SR Morton, IL).

The Trojans would wait until the third inning to respond, scoring off a fielders choice RBI driven by Paul Wilson (JR Richmond Hill, ON, Canada).  Cole Bamburger (JR Rockford, IL) would tag home who got on base being hit by a pitch.

The Tigers would answer in the bottom of the third with another RBI single by Smidt.

Trinity would tie the game 2-2, in the top of the fourth after Pete Miller (SR Chicago, IL) hit a triple and Kevin Tenney (JR San Diego, CA) would bat him in with an RBI SAC-fly to right field.

The game would be scoreless until the final inning where the Tigers would end the game with yet another RBI single by Smidt allowing ONU to win 3-2.

Elijah Smurthwaite (SO Grove City, OH) who struck out five, was credited with the win for the Tigers and Owen Leflar (SR Edmonton, AB, Canada) of the Trojans, who struck out six batters, with the loss.

In Game 2, Trinity International would take the lead in the first inning and never let Olivet Nazarene take the lead.

In the first inning, the Trojans would score two runs off Phil Sims (SR Waukegan, IL) RBI SAC-fly to center field and RBI single to left field by Myles Koebel (SO Surrey, B.C. Canada).

The Tigers wouldn't score till the bottom of the second off an RBI double by Matt Davenport (FR Swayzee, IN).

TIU would answer in the top of the third with a two-run Homer to right field by Tenney, giving the Trojans a 4-1 lead.

Olivet would score in the bottom of the third with a Smidt RBI.

The Trojans would score 3 runs in the top of the fifth off a RBI single by Steven Collado (JR New York, New York), Tony Mendoza (JR Yorkville, IL) scoring on a throwing error, and a RBI single by Wilson through the left side.

ONU would score on an error with Davenport touching home leaving the score 7-3.

The Tigers would continue to score in the bottom of the sixth off a RBI single down the left field line by Chris Hammett (JR Indianapolis, IN) and another RBI single by Davenport.

The Trojans would score the final run in the top of the seventh after Collado singled to right field and stole second and third base being batted in by Bumburger with a RBI single to right field.  Game 2 would end in Trojans victory 8-5.

Olivet won 2 out of the 3 games against Trinity for the week.

The Trojans play next in a double header at home Tuesday, April 20th at 1:00 PM vs. Trinity Christian College.
