DEERFIELD, IL- The Trinity International University men's baseball team lost to Olivet Nazarene University in a 10-12 heart breaker at home in ten innings.
The Trojans (23-15, 9-10) were unable to finish off the Tigers (20-11-1, 11,5) in the bottom of the ninth inning coming back from a 8-10 ONU lead.
Pete Miller (SR Chicago, IL) lead the charge in the bottom of the ninth getting on base and advancing to scoring position off of two wild pitches. Kevin Tenney (JR San Diego, CA) would bat in Miller and advance to scoring position. TIU was then able to tie the score 10-10 in the bottom of the ninth off a Myles Koebel (SO, Surrey, B.C. Canada) double.
The Tigers would add two more runs in the top of the tenth that the Trojans would be unable to answer ending the game in defeat.
It was a windy day in Deerfield with the batters in favor. ONU's Chris Hammett (JR Indianapolis, IN) hit the first ball out of the park in the top of the second inning giving the Tiger's an early 0-1 lead.
Phil Sims (SR Waukegan, IL) was the next to homer hitting a very low pitch high into the air over the center field fence.
The final home run of the game was a two run shot by the Tiger's Kevin Lasowski (FR Schererville, IN).
The Trojans look to avenge their home loss tomorrow Saturday, April 17th on the road against the Tigers in a double header starting at 12:30 PM.
