Tucson, AZ- Coming off a tremendous day of play on Tuesday, the Trojans failed to carry it on to today's contests, losing to both Cornerstone University and Minot State University.
At 10am, the Trojans took the field to face the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University. What began as a close contest broke out in the 4th inning. The Trojans came into that inning down 2-1, but it quickly changed when they saw each person in the Golden Eagle line-up at the plate. At the end of that innings, TIU found themselves down 7-2. The Trojans would battle back in the 5th, and added a run when Carrie Lee scored on a single from Niki Eisenberg, but it would prove to be too little, as CU scored 3 more in the bottom of the 5th to end the game.
Eisenberg was 3-3 for the game, with 2 RBI's.
The second game of the day saw the Trojans pitted against Minot State University. From the beginning, the Beavers brought a solid pitching and exceptional offensive performance. The Trojans could not answer back in their execution, and the game ended at 9-0.
TIU will play their final games of the tournament tomorrow, Thursday, March 11. At 12pm, TIU will face Northwestern College. At approximately 1:30pm, they will continue the game against Peru State that began on Tuesday but was postponed because of severe weather. The Trojans will resume from the top of the 5th, up 1-0. Following that game, TIU will see Jamestown University at 2pm, and Iowa Wesleyan College at 4pm.
