
Each starting player contributed by stepping across home plate in the win against College of St Mary. The aggressive offensive showing began early. With 2 outs in the top of the first, freshman Jenna Depa and sophomore Niki Eisenberg each got on base with a walk. Senior Whitney Folven stepped up to the plate, and shot a 3 run home run over the fence in left center. CSM answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first, tying the game. In the top of the fourth, Tara Faulker drove the ball to left center for a double, and then stole third base. A hit from Carrie Lee scored Faulkner. CSM again answered back and tied the game at 4.
The fifth inning saw each Trojan in the line-up at the plate, and resulted in a 10-4 lead. The sixth inning would see two more CSM runs, bringing the score to 10-6. To start the seventh, Tara Faulkner led off with a single. Carrie Lee followed with a walk, and Jenna Depa added a base hit to load the bases for sophomore Niki Eisenberg, who contributed to the Trojan lead with a grand slam bringing the score to 14-6.
Faulker went 3 for 4 for the game, hitting a .750. She also earned her first win pitching for the Lady Trojans. Folven hit another home run, bringing her season total to 2 and, with the grand slam, Eisenberg brought her home run total to 3 for the season.
The second game of the day brought Peru State to the field to face the Lady Trojans. The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth. Then, sophomore Stephanie Johnson had a base hit with Whitney Folven on second, which resulted in the only run scored before the game was postponed because of severe weather. The game was put on hold in the top of the 5th with one out. It will resume on Thursday, March 11, the final day of play in Tucson for the Lady Trojans.
