Trinity International University Softball heads to Tucson, Arizona, where they will play the first 13 games of the 2010 Season.

The Lady Trojans will begin their 2010 season on Friday, March 5 at 9am vs. University of Great Falls at the Tucson Invitational Tournament in Tucson, AZ.  Following that game, they will see conference rival Purdue North Central at 11am.

Coach Sippel is excited about the start of the season. "The girls have been working hard to prepare for our season. I am excited to see what we are made of on this trip. We will have some tough competition and a great opportunity to showcase our improvements individually and collectively."

Key returners include: sophomores, Niki Eisenberg and Carrie Lee, junior Katie Kiscellus and senior Whitney Folven.

Niki Eisenberg was honored as First Team CCAC in 2009, as a freshman. Playing in the Outfield for the Trojans, she accumulated 74 total bases (7th in the CCAC) with 5 home runs (6th in the CCAC). With a batting average of .405 (2nd in the CCAC), a slugging percentage of .638 (2nd in the CCAC) and an on-base percentage of .423 (10th in the CCAC), Niki was a major offensive threat. Coach Sippel looks for her to continue to lead the team offensively. Carrie Lee, who played 2nd base in her first year for the Lady Trojans, recorded 78 assists on the field in 2009. Junior, Katie Kiscellus functioned as the Trojan's premier pitcher last year, tallying 2/3 of the team's wins. Senior, Whitney Folven provides a consistent all-around performance for the Lady Trojans, while also functioning as the team's captain. "Whitney is a bold leader who brings much experience to the team", Coach Sippel said, "I look for her to continue to develop as a leader while also executing on the field." Whitney is excited to start her senior year. "This year is going to be great!" she said. "I feel a sense of urgency because it is my last year, and I am excited about the level of talent on our team as we take the field. This trip to Arizona will be a great place for us to gel as a team."

Key newcomers for the Lady Trojans are pitcher, Tara Faulkner and shortstop, Jenna Depa.

Tara Faulkner spent her high school career at Clifton Central High School, in Clifton, IL. There, she was honored on the All-Area Team for her junior and senior years in addition to All-Conference honors in her sophomore-senior years. "The addition of Tara to our program will help us to take a step forward as a program", Coach Sippel said. "She brings with her a wealth of experience on the mound and a competitive spirit that will challenge her teammates to be their very best. Tara is a coachable player with a great attitude who gets her job done." Tara, for herself and her teammates, desires that "Every minute of every game, give it your all, 110% through every inning."

Jenna Depa hails from Des Plaines IL, where she played for Maine West High School. Prior to her arrival at TIU, Jenna was a three-time recipient of both the Gold Glove Award and All-Conference while serving as a team captain for 2 years.  At shortstop, Coach Sippel looks for her to be a leader in the infield. "Jenna is a smart player and the kind of person the team will rally around because of her work ethic," Coach Sippel said. "She has a tremendous attitude and we look for her to fill big shoes beginning this season." Jenna is highly anticipating the start of the season. "I am really excited for this season and anxious to see how we play together." She said. "We have worked extremely hard at practice, and I want to see it pay off during the season. It is amazing to be on a team that plays all for Christ, ‘ALL FOR HIM'."
