On the leaderboard for scoring was Melanie Duplessis with 22 total points, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds. Vivianne Kindt owned 13 total points, 3 steals, and 6 rebounds. Also showing up big was Lavina Price with points in the double digits at 10, while co-leading rebounds with Reanna Perrera, both with a game total of 8. Perrera also scored 6 points and led blocks with 3.
The first half was taken by the Trojans when they took the lead in the eighth minute. The score changed from a tie of 11-11 when Kindt scored a jumper in the paint, putting the Trojans' ahead at 13-11. The Trojans' lead would continue to climb up to as much as 13 points ahead of the Trolls at 3 times throughout the first half. The Trolls tried to bring the margin of points back down, but they could only get as low as a 6-point difference before the Trojans pushed their lead back up to a 12-point margin to end the half. The score at half-time was TIU with 40 and TCC with 28.
The second half started similarly to how the first half played out. The Trojans remained in the lead by a wide margin; in the seventh minute they were ahead by 15 points, at 55-40. The Trojans kept their wide lead until minute marker 10 when their lead began to decline. The Trolls held the Trojans at 55 points for over five minutes while the Trolls kept scoring. By the twelfth minute, the Trolls were just 5 points behind the Trojans at 55-50. The Trolls came back with a fight in the final minutes, decreasing their lead to a 4-point margin with 1:46 left in playing time, at 59-55. With 17 seconds left in regulation time, the Trojans were ahead by only 3 points, at 60-57. The Trolls tried to pull of a shot to tie the game and push it into overtime, but they ran out of time when they turned the ball over. The Trojans went on to win the game 60-57.
The Trojans only have one game left to play in the regular season. They will play conference opponent, Judson University, on the road on Saturday, February 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
