The game began with two three-point baskets by Trinity's, Jami Higgs, which put the Trojans up by 6 points in the first 30 seconds. Vivianne Kindt would follow with two more points, bouncing the Trojans off to a strong start. TIU dominated the first 10 minutes of the first half by pushing their lead to as much as 11 points. However, Judson was not about to give up. The Judson Eagles', Aubrey Parson, scored a jumper with only five minutes remaining in the half, thus bringing the score to a tie, 32-32. The Eagles were able to pull ahead by 4 points at the end of the half, 42-46.
The second half began with a jumper by Parson, expanding the Eagles' lead to a 6 point margin. By the fourth minute into the second half, Judson had gained as much as a 10 point lead on the Trojans, 46-56. But that was the most that Trojans would let them move ahead. Reanna Perrera, whose 21st birthday was celebrated tonight, put a halt to the Eagles' lead. Perrera was on fire tonight, as she was the leader on the scoreboard for the Trojans with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. The game was back-and-forth the remainder of the game as both teams kept close in score.
As the Trojan's did their best to minimize the margin of difference in the score, the Trojans again took the lead with nine minutes remaining in the second half, putting the score at 59-58. The lead switched between teams for the next few minutes until Trinity's, April Kathan, scored a jumper with four minutes left in the half, pushing Trinity ahead of Judson by 1 point, 65-64. Trinity's, Lavina Price, would push the lead wider when she scored a 3-point shot in the third minute. As the minutes were drawing closer to an end, it became a two point game with 47 seconds left on the clock, as Trinity was up 75-73. The Trojan's defense would hold strong as the clock ran out of time. Thus, the Trojans beat the Eagles, 75-73. The fans were supportive and engaged tonight for the Trojans, especially as the score remained close for the majority of the game.
Another name on the leader-board tonight was Melanie Duplessis, who scored 15 points and had 5 rebounds.
The Trojan's overall record is now 4-16, with their conference record moving to 1-4.
The Lady Trojans are looking forward to their next game on Saturday, January 30 when they will host Purdue University Calumet. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
