DEERFIELD IL-  The Trinity International University Trojans Athletics Department  tee up with TIU's own Dr. Don Scherrer as the head coach for this fall's 2010 season. 


Dr. Scherrer has been been with TIU since 2001, serving six years as a full time professor, and currently resides with a part-time appointment as an affiliate professor of science.

Scherrer's background includes 35 years of service at such institutions as Chicago State University, the University of Illinois Chicago, and Texas A&M University.  In addition to his teaching  responsibilities at CSU and UIC he also coached their golf teams.

Dr. Scherrer is a native to Chicago's west side near Columbus Park, where he learned the love for the game at a near by nine hole golf course at a Chicago Park District.  With the encouragment of his golfer parents and brothers, Dr. Scherrer grew up teeing off at Colombus park.  His passion for golf continued onto his high school team and continues in regular league and outing play.

Dr. Scherrer currently lives in Arlington Heights where he and his wife Lenore where they are members of the Orchard Evangelical Free Church (formerely Arlington Heights EFC) since 1972.  The Scherrer's have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Scherrer is familiar with TIU's core values of Christ centeredness, comprehensive education,community, church connectedness, and cultural engagement.  He is ready to take a full swing as head golf coach to, "form students to transform the world through Christ."
