PALOS HEIGHTS, IL - The Lady Trojans played at Trinity Christian College (TCC) Saturday afternoon with all proceeds from gate and concessions being donated towards relief efforts in Haiti. The Trojans started off strong, with Melanie Duplessis scoring the first basket, which put TIU up by 3 in the first 15 seconds.

Trinity International University, however, could not keep up the lead for very long. That would be their largest lead of the game. Trinity Christian College took over the lead in the second minute and would not give it back to TIU until the second half. The Trolls from TCC would take their largest lead of the game, 13 points, with 33 seconds left on the clock in the first half. The first half ended with a score of TCC 40 points and TIU 31 points.

The Trojans began the second half with gusto. They scored the first 6 points, not letting the Trolls score any baskets until the third minute. Trinity International came within one point of Trinity Christian in the fourteenth minute (45-44), but were unable to take the lead until Melanie Duplessis made her free throw, making the score 51-51. Then Lavina Price scored off a layup, pushing TIU into the lead, 54-53. The score was tied again at 54-54 when TCC's Laura Karr made her free throws.  TCC scored again and would continue to widen their lead for the remainder of the game.  The final score was TIU with 63 points and TCC with 76 points.

TIU had a 33.3 field goal percentage, while TCC had a 52.2 percentage. TCC led with 49 rebounds, compared to TIU's 32 rebounds. TIU led with 22 steals, contrasted to TCC only having 8 steals. The Trolls had 33 turnovers, whereas the Trojans had 19. But TCC made better use of TIU's turnovers, scoring 24 points from our 19 turnovers. TIU was only able to score 15 points from TCC's 33 turnovers.

Duplessis led the offense with 25 points, while Vivianne Kindt was also in double digits with 12 points. Reanna Perrera owned 6 of the 22 steals for TIU.

The Trojans overall record is 3-16 and their conference record is 0-4. They will play again on Wednesday, January 27 in conference play against Judson College at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
