MARION, IL-  The Trinity International University Trojans Men's Basketball team was defeated by the the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats, 72-88 on the road at Luckey Arena.

The Wildcats (10-3) were just too much for the Trojans (2-13) leading on the scoreboard the entire game.  IWU was led by Senior Forward Zach Coverstone, scoring 19 points and bringing down 10 rebounds.  Coverstone did not win this game alone with impressive scoring contributions by his fellow Wildcats, George Jones IV (16 points), Spencer Harris (16 points), and Aaron Martin (14 points).

The Wildcats began the contest with a 14-0 run until in the 14th minute when Trojan Junior Guard Tyrone Smith broke the silence sinking a three pointer assisted by Junior Forward/Center Ignas Verbus.  The Trojans gradually chipped away at the Wildcats lead throughout the first half.

With 2:19 remaining, Junior guard Patrick Atkins (20 points, 10 rebounds) completed a three point play giving the Trojans their closest lead of the night, 35-30.  The Wildcats would then go on for a 6-0 run ending the first half in the lead 41-30.

IWU would continue in the lead for the rest of the game but the the Trojans wouldn't be defeated with out putting up a fight.  With 13:50 left in the game Atkins would steal the ball and assist a Smith bucket putting the Trojans within a point, 50-49.  The Trojans would linger around the Wildcats for the next couple of possessions but could never get past the IWU lead.  The Wildcats would take a seven point lead in the seventh minute and never feel a Trojan threat for the remainder of the game

Indiana Wesleyan shot 49.3% FG and 33.3% from three-point range (0-5 in second half).  Trinity International shot 42.4% FG and 30.3% from three-point range.  The Wildcats out scored the Trojans in the paint 59-34 and off the bench 28-14.

The Trojans look forward to their upcoming contests out in Anchorage, Alaska December 30-31st.
