TIU's defence in the 2nd half keyed the 65-62 victory.
DEERFIELD, IL - Trinity International kicked off the Trojan Classic on a positive note as they clawed from behind to defeat University of St. Francis (IL), 65-62.
The Lady Trojans worked hard on defense and created a lot of turnovers
for the Lady Saints which led to fast breaks and scoring
opportunities. Trinity pulled away with a game high lead of 7 points
after freshman Cassie Glendenning (Stillman Valley, IL) hit a pair of 3
pointers with 9 minutes left in the game.
The Lady Saints never gave up and brought the TIU lead to 3 points with
seconds to go in the game. With several attempts at the hoop, the Lady
Trojans held down their fort and advanced with their first team win of
the season over USF 65-62.
Junior Melanie Duplessis (Lindenhurst, IL) and sophomore Vivianne Kindt
(Bolingbrook, IL) generated a lot of the offense for the Trojan
attack. Duplessis had 18 points in the game while Kindt chipped in 12
points. Glendenning had 11 total points in the game.
The Lady Trojans are now 1-4 and look to continue their winning ways
tomorrow afternoon against Robert Morris College at 4:00 PM for their
last match in the Trojan Classic.
