CHICAGO, IL - Though Trinity International would trim late game Cougar leads to three points two different times, Chicago State University was too much for the Trojans, who fell 102-84.

Though out-sized, the Trojans mounted a barage of 3 point shoots in the 2nd half to trim CSU's lead to 57-54.  Though the Cougars would score the next 4 in a row, TIU found a way to get within three again on a 3-point basket by junior guard, Tyrone Smith.  The game, however, started to slip away behind the athleticism and rebounding edge of Chicago State.

CSU's Junior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, Ill.)  tallied 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds to lead five Chicago State players in double figures as the host Cougars captured a 102-84 home win  Wednesday afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on the campus of CSU.

CSU hiked its season record to 2-1, while the Trojans fell to 2-6 on the year. After holding a slim 46-38 lead at the half, the Cougars shot 67 percent in the second half en route to a season-best 56 points for the win.

Junior Antonio Lofton (Chicago, Ill.) added 16 points and went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line, while junior Hajji Martin (Chicago, Ill.) and senior Marquis Young (Chicago, Ill.) each tallied a career-best 15 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight rebounds, respectively.

Trinity International was led by junior Tyrone Smith's game-high 22 points that included going 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Junior Ignas Verbus contributed 16 points and junior Patrick Atkins added 13 points, while Danny Kirst and Carson Chapman each tallied 11 points.

The Trojans will be back in action this Friday and Saturday as they host the Trojan Classic at the Meyer Sports Complex.
