The Trojans started the game off strong, beginning an early lead that would hold steady until the final four minutes of the second half. In the tenth minute of the first half, Trinity started pulling away from Benedictine University, 17-12. The Trojans continued to hold off Benedictine with a 10-point lead at half time, 30-20.
The second half began with the Trojans widening their lead by scoring first. In the fourteenth minute of the second half, the Trojans possessed a 14-point lead, the widest they would have the entire game, putting the score at 39-25. From this point on, the Trojans continued to contain the lead; however, Benedictine diminished the lead with each passing minute. In the fourth minute of the game, Benedictine scored off of a turnover by Trinity. This basket pushed Benedictine into the lead, 58-59. The Trojans battled hard, but could not pull ahead by the final whistle. The final score was 64-69 with the win going to Benedictine University.
Benedictine scored 24 points off of lost turnovers by Trinity, while Trinity score only 14 points from turnovers. Both teams were tied with 22 points scored in the paint. Benedictine also scored 23 out of 30 free throws, whereas Trinity only scored 7 out of 10 free throws.
Vivianne Kindt led the offense with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Melanie Duplessis followed closely behind with 6 total rebounds. Britteny Simon scored 10 points tonight.
