DEERFIELD, IL - The Trinity Trojans welcomed the Walsh Cavaliers to Leslie Frazier field on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  The 7 Trojans seniors were honored before the game with their families for their contributions to the program.  The Trojans honored their seniors with a hard hitting first half and only trailed 10-0 against the #23 team in the nation.  The second half however the Trojans ran out of gas falling 38-7.

Before the game the injury bug hit the Trojans hard as starting DT Matt Williams was out with a leg injury and starting DE Grady Pennell was slowed by the flu bug.
The Trojans got the ball first going to work from their own 35 yard line.  On the first play of the game Daniel Beals (FR, Chicago IL) ran 9 yards but behind the play one of the Trojans most promising freshman Offensive Lineman, Steve Whitmer (FR, Newberry FL) went down grabbing his leg and would be done for the afternoon.  The Trojans would pick up the first down but would have to punt three plays later.

As the Defense came on the field Walsh did what it does best running the ball 6 straight times.  Just as Walsh crossed into Trojan territory the defense stiffened.  Three plays later the defense forced a Walsh punt.  Tyler Boblit (JR Fullerton CA) was inches away from blocking the Walsh punt and the ball was downed at the Trojans 4 yard line.

The offense went three and out and Schillinger was forced to punt while backed up in his own endzone.  The ball Traveled to 40 yard line leaving the defense in a difficult spot.  Walsh quickly capitalized on the good field position marching the ball 40 yards in 3 plays for a Walsh TD as they took an early 7-0 lead.

Beals and the offense got the ball back again but were once again backed up inside their own 20 yard line.  Three plays later the Trojans were forced to punt again.  As the Defense took the field once again in bad field position, they were able to rise to the occasion forcing a Walsh 3 and out.

Beals got the offense moving on their next possession starting the drive off with a 10 yard first down run.  Then on 3rd and 4 Beal found Conrad Ognibene (Fr, Rockford IL) for 15 yards and another first down.  The drive would stall at that point and three plays later Josiah Schillinger (FR, Middletown OH) would be forced to punt.

The punt pinned Walsh down inside their own 10 yard line.  Once again the defense held serve giving up only one first down on the drive before forcing another Walsh punt.  After another near miss by Boblit on the punt the Trojans took over on their own 45 yard line giving the offense their best field position of the day.

On the next drive the Offense would overcome two crippling penalties marching the ball 35 yards in 7 plays.  Once again however the Trojans couldn't put points on the board as Beals was hit and fumbled the ball over to the defense.

The turnover energized the Walsh offense as they marched the ball 54 yards in 11 plays running the clock all the down and kicking a 32 yard field goal just as time expired.  As the first half ended the score was Walsh 10 Trinity 0

As the second half began Walsh began to pull away scoring on their first two possessions increasing the lead to 24-0.  The Trojan offense continued to move the ball on the ground but the lack of explosive plays doomed the Trojans.

As the fourth quarter began Walsh continued to move the ball tacking on another touchdown on their first drive.  The Trojans once again moved the ball 48 yards in 8 plays but the drive was stalled on 4th and 11 from the Walsh 26.

After the first three and out of the half Walsh was forced to punt.  Clifton Johnson (FR, Chicago IL) came on the field to return the punt, he made the first explosive play of the game taking the punt back 42 yards getting pushed out at the Walsh 11 yard line.  7 plays later Beals found Nigel Pinson (Fr, Chicago IL) to get the Trojans on the board for the first time in the game.

Walsh would add one more touchdown before the game ended as the Trojans fell 38-7.

This marks the last game the Trojans would play in 2009 but the future looks bright as the Trojans will return 10 offensive starters and 9 defensive starters.
