DEERFIELD, IL - The Lady Trojans defeated the Eagles of Judson University,1-0 in the to advance to the CCAC Semi-Finals.
The match was supposed to originally take place on Saturday, October
31. However, after rainy days and unplayable field conditions the sun
came out and made for 'perfect' soccer weather.
Kick-off began at 2 PM. The Lady Trojans faced the Judson Eagles
earlier in the regular season and defeated them 1-0. They took it to
the Eagles again and came out with another 1-0 win.
The Lady Trojans had almost an entire week to prepare for Judson. They
worked hard, read scouting reports, and were ready to play. They came
out strong from the opening whistle, maintained possession and created
several scoring opportunities. In the 25th minute of the game, the
defense worked well to contain a Judson forward. Senior captain, Jenny
Bransten, stepped in to clear the ball onto the feet of TIU forward,
Nikki Sigurdson, who went on to dribble down the right endline and
found the feet of Diana Anderson in the box. Anderson 1-touched the
ball into the net to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. TIU maintained the
1-0 lead to halftime.
The second half began with heightened intensity from Judson. The
Eagles began to win aerial battles and pressured Trinity's midfield
well. Judson created a few scoring opportunities including a penalty
kick with 14 minutes left to play that hit off the post. However, they
were not able to finish their chances and the Lady Trojans advanced
over Judson with a 1-0 victory and their 10th shut out of the season.
They will resume play on Saturday, November 7th for the CCAC
Semi-Finals against Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL.
The time of the game is TBA.
