Trinity Christian College (11-4-3) defended its regular-season title
with a 1-0 win at Olivet Nazarene University on Tuesday afternoon to
finish with a 9-0-1 CCAC record. The Trolls, who received 114 votes in
the NAIA national poll this week, will be the No. 1 seed in the
tournament and will host Cardinal Stritch University. The Trolls are
the league's best offensive team, averaging 3.33 goals per game. The
Wolves (4-14) claimed the No. 8 seed with a play or go home game
against
Olivet Nazarene (15-2-1) had a perfect CCAC record entering its final game of the regular season and is ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA poll, but the Tigers came up short against Trinity Christian to finish 9-1 in the standings and earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Tigers will host No. 7 seed Illinois Institute of Technology (10-8) who posted a 5-5 record in the CCAC. On October 13th, these two teams played at Illinois Tech with Olivet winning, 2-0. Saturday's game time in Bourbonnais, Illinois, has not been announced. Olivet Nazarene has the leagues's best defense, giving up just 0.49 goals per game to go along with 13 shut outs.
The No. 3 seed in the tournament is Robert Morris University
(11-5-2). The Eagles finished with a 7-2-1 record in the CCAC standings
with its only losses being to the league's best two teams. Robert
Morris will face
Closing out the season with a win over Calumet, Trinity International (8-8-1) locked in the No. 4 seed and the right to play No. 5 seed Judson who also earned a win in its final regular season game. Trinity has a 6-4 CCAC record, while Judson is 5-3-2. Judson and Trinity International faced in the quarterfinal round last year as the Trojans eliminated Judson 2-0 in the opening game. This year, Trinity also defeated the Eagles on the road, 1-0, on October 3rd. The teams will meet on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Deerfield, Illinois.
The winners of each of the quarterfinal games will play on November 4th, at the highest seed. The championship game will be on November 7th, at the highest seed.
