DEERFIELD -  On a game significant for post season seeding,  the St. Xavier Cougars defeated TIU, 3-1, on senior day.

Kickoff began at 3:30 on Frasier Field (TIU's football field) because of wet field conditions on Trinity's Schartner soccer field.  St. Xavier came out with a strong attacking presence.  Defender, Courtney Ensz  had a solid game with a few defensive saves off the goal line.  St. Xavier's, Casey Meehan placed a shot just wide of Rebecca Niedermayer's reach in the 25th minute of the game.

Trinity entered halftime down, 1-0.

The Lady Trojans began 2nd half with great possession.  Senior captain, Becky Dean, drew a foul 25 yards out from the St. Xavier goal.  Courtney Ensz flighted the free kick into the box where junior, Niki Sigurdson, connected with her head to redirect the ball into the back of the net.  The game was tied 1-1 with 20 minutes left to play.  The Lady Trojans had momentum but the Lady Cougars struck again when Meehan finished a rebound off of Neidermayer with 11 minutes to go.  Shortly after, St Xavier's, Kelly Steinhaus, found Nancy Schueth at the top of the 18 yard box.  Schueth placed the ball into the side netting of the goal giving the Cougars a 3-1 lead with 5 minutes left of play.

The Cougars defeated the Trojans 3-1.  The Lady Trojans are now 7-8-1.  They will resume play for their last conference match on Tuesday, Oct 27 at 3:00 PM.
