The Lady Trojans traveled to St. Francis University of Illinois to battle against the Saints, and were handed a 4 set defeat, 14-25, 30-28, 16-25, 16-25.

The volleyball team entered tonight's match with a conference record of 10-8. The team did come out as ready to play tonight as they have been in previous matches. It was evident that a lack of intensity contributed to the loss of game one. It appeared that the Trojans were not able to utilize the Saints weaknesses against them.

The Trojans reorganized to come back and win in the second game. Defense was a strong point in this game. The team worked very well as a cohesive unit. It was very close as the two teams rallied back and forth until the Trojans finally pulled ahead to clinch the second game, 30-28.

Carly Yattaw (Highlands Ranch, CO) and Chelsie Shields (Kearny, NE) led the attack offensively, both with eight kills. Kristen Sharpley (Marshall, MI) and Kelley Gims (West Chester, OH) both followed closely with six kills each.

Leading the defense in blocks was Shields, who assisted in four blocks. Sharpley also contributed with three blocks. The team had a total of nine blocks.

Unfortunately, the Trojans could not pull through to conquer the Saints in the final two games. The results ended up as (14-25, 30-28, 16-25, 16-25). This loss leaves the Trojans' record at 10-9.

The ladies will play next this weekend at the Lindenwood Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri. They will play two matches on Friday (3:00pm and 7:00pm) and two matches on Saturday (11:30pm and 3:30pm).
