In the battle of women soccer Trinities, the Trinity Christian Trolls came out on top 2-1 in OT in Palos Heights.
The battle between the two Trinity's has been one of the biggest CCAC's rivalries for years. "I just think it's because we have the same name. That brings out a deeper fight in you because you want to make sure that your school wins," said TCC's captain, Chelsea Brunt.
Kickoff began at 5 PM with perfect, cool temperatures and a brilliant sunset in the backdrop. TCC had a penalty kick opportunity in the 10th minute of the game which was saved by junior, Rebecca Neidermayer. Both teams entered halftime scoreless.
Four minutes into the 2nd half Claire Comerouski took the ball down to the end line, passed it in front of the goal where Errika Comerouski slipped it past Niedermayer. The team's lead was shortlived when junior transfer, Rachel Bowker, answered back with a goal 48 seconds after TCC put one on the board. The two teams continued to battle but the scores were tied at the end of 2nd half with both teams heading into overtime.
The teams proceeded into the overtime period. At the 96:47 mark Carly Comerouski slotted a ball through the middle to Claire Comerouski who got by the defender and beat the Neidermayer for the golden goal to win the game.
The Lady Trojans are now 2-6-1 and 0-2 in CCAC. They resume conference play against Judson College on Saturday, October 3rd in Elgin at 12:00 PM.
