Sep 5 - After a two hour delay under bizarre circumstances, the Trojans came out punching. However, in the end the more experienced St. Ambrose team was too much as the Trojans fell 44-0
As the Trojans approached the field for the National Anthem, it was announced that the officials had not yet arrived and the game would be delayed. Two hours and six officials later Trinity took the field to take on the defending conference champs.
The first half was a hard fought battle between both teams. Trinity dominated play to start the game but turnovers and penalties kept the Trojans scoreless. The Trojan defense played an exceptional half allowing only 27 yards including 6 straight 3 and outs.
The second half was a different story as the Bees exploded for 44 points. The SAU defense forced four turnovers on the Trojans' first two drives of the second half. In time, the TIU defense could not hold the attack, which resulted in 362 total yards for the Bees in the half. They would push there lead to 21-0 towards the end of the 3rd period and add to it in the 4th.
Freshman Kindrick Dent was 15-25 with for 132 yards for the Trojan. Kyle Mowen led TIU receivers with 3 catchers for 37 yard, while Cole Bamberger totaled 37 on the grounds from 17 carries.
TIU will host St. Xavier University on September 5 for its home opener. Kickoff it scheduled for 1:00 CST.
