Despite trailing by just a goal at the half, the Trinity International University men's soccer team could not top Arizona's Embry-Riddle.
The Trojan Men lost to Embry-Riddle-Arizona 1-2 at home in their second game of the season Wednesday. The Trojans (0-2-0 overall) out shot Embry-Riddle 22-15, but still fell short by one goal in the end.
Patrick Patzig shot both goals for the Eagles in the first period. Patrick's first goal came too early for the Trojans in the second minute of the game, and his second hit the back of the net in minute 33.
Petro Giannakopoulos (Wilmot, WI) assisted Micah Price (Winona Lake, IN) in the 69th minute with the lone goal of the game for TIU. The intensity of the game picked up with the Trojan's one goal behind. The Trojan's battled hard, but could not get past Eagle goal keeper Jacob Horstmann. Jacob defended the net for the entire game having 8 saves total, and Trinity's goal keeper Collin Cone (Yaounde, Cameroon) worked hard for the Trojan's with 6. For the game, Micah Price and Michael Schroder (Rockford, IL) led Trinity in total shots.
Trinity (0-2-0 overall) continues its season on Saturday, August 29, with its first away game against Grand View College. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start at the Luhrs Athletic Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.
