Trinity had their first home stand of the season against Carthage this past weekend.  Carthage came into the game with a 7-3 record to face the Trojans.  The Trojans kept both games close but in the end the Lady Red's pitching was too much for the Trojans to overcome. 

In the first game Arielle Ogorek took the mound for the Trojans.  She breezed through the first two innings with out allowing a run.  In the third inning however the Lady Reds finally got to her as she hit the second batter she faced, the next batter reached on an error and two batters later Kari Peterson hit one out of the park.  On the other side the Trojan bats loaded the bases three different times in the 1rst the 5th and the 7th but came away with no runs all three times.  In the end it was Carthage 7 TIU 0. 

In the second game TIU put Britteny Weisensel on the mound to try and shut down Carthage.  the Lady Red got the board in the first inning with a double by Jacquelyn Tassone that scored Meghan Roman.  The scored stayed 1-0 as Britteny shut down the Lady Red bats for the next three innings.  then in the top of the 5th Carthage added an insurance run as Jess Fijolek got on base with a single and Stephanie Noel drove her in with a double extending the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the inning however, the Trojans struck back.  Katie Kiscellus lead off the inning with a single and stole second.  One batter latter Arielle Ogorek came to the plate and took the first pitch over the fence to tie the game at two.  The 6th inning went by with both team being held scorless and TIU and Carthage went to the 7th all tied at 2.  In the 7th inning the flood gates opened for Carthage as they put 5 runners across the plate.  Trinity was unable to match that number in their half of the inning as the Trojans fell 7-2.
