Mar 27 - A series of misplays mounted to 5 unearned runs and a Trinity International defeat at the hands of St. Francis, 11-7.
St. Francis jumped on the board early with a run in the 1st inning, followed by one in the 2nd. After a scoreless 3rd, St. Francis added two in the 4th and lead 5-0.
TIU got on the board in the bottom of the 4th, scoring twice on an infield hit and a sacrifice fly.
But in the 5th, the TIU defense struggled to 3 errors allowing 4 runs to plate giving the Saints a 9-2 lead. "We are simply not catching and throwing the ball well," said Head Coach Tom Raven.
After shaking defense allowed the score to reach 11-2, the TIU offense came to life with 7 hits over the final 3 innings to plate 5 runs. The rally, however, would not be enough.
With the loss, the Trojans moved to 4-9 on the season, 3-3 in the CCAC. TIU will return to action on Saturday, March 28 at noon in Joliet as they continue their 3 game set with St. Francis.
